Poem
Hidden Tears
Hidden tears, falling from my eyes
Soundless wailing, screaming, flailing
Empty face, a harlequin disguise
Broken sounds of heartbeats failing

Into the Void
Into the void I cast my soul,
My frailties and longings.
I feel the draw of endless night
And cast off my belongings.
I cast my love, that bitterness
That hangs on like a chain.
I close my eyes and throw it out,
The shackles of my pain.
The hungry void tears at my soul,
At every hurt inside.
It rips the chains that bound my heart
To every dream that died.

Requiem of Faith
Oh my God, why have you forsaken me?
My soul cries out from the depths of the waters;
My spirit cries from the depths of the sea.
Oh my God, why have you forsaken me?
Waves of loss crash over my broken body.
I gasp for air; I can barely breathe.
The pain of love keeps pulling me under.
Oh my God, why have you forsaken me?

Empty
Empty myself, empty my soul,
Empty my dreams, they’re out of control…
Where can I hide, where can I feel,
Where can I go, where nothing is real?
I walk in this place with nothing to hide,
So why do I feel all that’s trapped inside?
I can’t find my way through all this pain.
I swallow my dreams, so nothing remains.

Lost
Outside, a dark and stormy night;
I hear a knocking at my door.
I open with my heart affright
And see a doorway, nothing more.
I turn back towards the candle light
That flickers bravely through the hall
And through the dark I catch a sight
Of what my spirit fears to call.
A whisper fainter than a breeze,
A shimmering of hopelessness;
A falling twilight through the trees,
The sum of all my nothingness.

The Cage
My heart is restless and wild—
My thoughts long to be free,
But I’ve locked them in a cage
Behind bars for the world to see
“See the fearsome beast,
The strength that flows within.
Who could tame such a creature
Or set it free again?”
The shackles of pain bind its feet,
A chain of loss and woe
That binds its heart and turns its path
And guides where it must go.

The Rose
I wrote this poem for a special girl back in high school… not sure exactly when. I think it was when I was a Junior in High School back in ‘90. I don’t think I ever did show it to her. *smiles*
